Hyderabad to host seminar on Islamic art, culture


Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) will organize a three-day international seminar on ‘Islamic Art and Culture’ from November 25 to 27. The seminar is being organized in collaboration with Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi and Muslim Educational, Social and Cultural Organization (MESCO).
The Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad, the Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi, and the Muslim Educational, Social and Cultural Organization (MESCO), Hyderabad, are organizing it.

The aim of the seminar is to discuss and share the research experiences of the cultural inter-connectedness of

Islamic civilization in the context of Arabia, Persia, Central Asia, South-East Asia and India, said a statement from MANUU.

"The seminar is being organized to highlight the different spheres of Islamic culture through different angles and the contribution of Muslims in different fields of life through the ages," Saeed said.

The first two days programs will be held at MANUU campus while the last day program will be organized at Salar Jang Museum. The topics for the papers include Muslim contribution in creating a pluralistic Society, Islamic influence on Indian Society, Sufi Movements in India and abroad, the role of Royal Courts in development of regional languages, Concept of composite Culture, Various forms of Islamic Art, Islamic Architecture and Fine Arts in the Arab World, Islamic Architecture & Fine Arts in India, Main characteristics of the pre-Islamic native acrchitecture and fine arts in Medieval India, Mughal School of painting, Subjects and techniques, Calligraphy as Islamic Art, Cultural heterogeneity and Islam.
