The Telangana state will become a reality in the first half of 2012, the senior BJP leader L K Advani has predicted.
Demanding that the Congress-led UPA government should introduce a bill on formation of Telangana state in the coming winter session of Parliament, he assured that the BJP, as a principal opposition party, would support the bill.
“There is absolutely no hurdle for creation of separate state. The only hurdle appears to be the intransigence of the Congress,” Advani said at Nizamabad during his ongoing Jan Chetna Yatra.
By predicting that Telangana state would come into being by early next year, Advani appears to be banking on the UPA to do the job. On its part, the BJP is already on record saying that it would initiate measures for carving out Telangana state within 100 days of the NDA coming to power in 2014 elections.
Entering Andhra Pradesh in Adilabad district from Maharashtra border, Advani no lost no time in harping on the Telangana card and putting the blame squarely at the doors of the Congress. Reiterating his party's whole-hearted support to the Telangana bill, the senior leader wanted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to make an announcement in this regard immediately.
